LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognised green building certification system. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing green building design, construction, operations and maintenance. For more information please visit www.usgbc.org
LEED works on a point scoring system. Buildings are assessed on a number of issues and ‘credits’ are available for specific levels of performance. The overall number of credits obtained determines the final LEED score, which results in a rating: LEED certified, LEED silver, LEED gold or the highest rating, LEED platinum.
