North Tiles – to design, to create

2006

North Tiles, designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, were originally created for the Kvadrat Stockholm showroom.

The two designers were given creative freedom and the result was an impressive showroom that demonstrated a new and unique way of using fabric.

When assembled North Tiles create a dramatic and tactile look and transforms the space. The pieces are assembled with the help of a simple and flexible folding system which means that the design of the fabric surfaces is limited only by one’s imagination.

North Tiles have been accepted into the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and will be on display at the Just In exhibition throughout 2008. North Tiles are also included in the permanent design collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Furthermore, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec designed a North Tiles wall especially for the Airs de Paris exhibition in celebration of the 30 year anniversary of the Centre Pompidous in 2007.
