The Triple Folly book

Published by MACK, The Triple Folly book explores our collaboration with Thomas Demand, and architects Caruso St John in the creation of a unique Gesamtkunstwerk at our HQ in Ebeltoft, Denmark.

Thomas Demand initially explored the pavilion tent as an archetypal structure for The Triple Folly, inspired by our iconic textiles and our celebrated commissioned art projects. As the book reveals, he translated his ideas and architectural iterations onto paper before approaching Caruso St John with three found objects – a legal pad, a paper plate, and a soda jerk – and a compelling question: “Can you make this into architecture?”. In response, Caruso St John created a tripartite folly – a still life – on a hillock overlooking the picturesque coastal landscape at our HQ.

The hand-finished book consists of three volumes that are separate yet, at the same time, one. They represent the Triple Folly´s entire architectural journey from conception to construction. The first two volumes depict Thomas Demand´s original sketchbooks and references in facsimile. The third volume offers a selection of images of the stunning building work alongside conversation with talents from the world of art, architecture, and design: Frank Gehry, Denise Scott Brown, Adam Caruso, Valerie Verhack, Anders Byriel, and Emilie Appercé. A single-volume version of the book is also available.

The book also serves as a celebration of our commitment to a long-term collaboration with Thomas Demand and Caruso St John and it is available for purchase at https://mackbooks.eu/.
