Frits Philips Concert Hall

Architects Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe have chosen the Kvadrat textile Hallingdal 65 for seating in the Frits Philips Concert Hall (Muziekgebouw Frits Philips) in Eindhoven. The Frits Philips Concert Hall re-opened in 2010, following the redesign by Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe.

Regarded as one of Europe’s top music halls, it hosts performances of a wide variety of music, including jazz, pop, world and classical. Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe designed every detail especially for the project, including the enormous glass façade, the foyers, the furniture and the crockery.

In doing so, they carefully considered every aspect of the interior: for instance, to solve the problem of empty seats distracting performers, all the chairs are in a slightly different hue, so they resemble people from the stage.

All the seats in the Concert Hall are upholstered in Hallingdal 65, in a variety of colours. 2,000 metres used in total. The seats and poufs in the lobby are upholstered in different shades of Perla and Hallingdal 65. The seating, along with all the other products specially developed by architects for the project, has been exhibited as the ‘M-collection’ in Milan.
