Rugs

The Technicolour rugs, which are handwoven or robot tufted, explore intersections between colour, texture, agriculture, and industry. They each examine different dimensions of the collection concept: Flock takes a more pastoral perspective; Fleece is more urban, while Field takes an industrial approach to colour and colour gradations.

Flock evokes a strong connection with the sheep that provide the wool for its construction. During the crafting process for the rug, coloured flocks of wool are randomly spun by hand to create richly voluminous, irregular weft yarns. This ensures that, like individual sheep, every rug has an individual colour expression. Flock comes in five colourways, which unite natural wool tones with hues that reference the pigments used to mark sheep.

Fleece features random sparks of colour, matching those used to mark sheep, which are randomly sprinkled across a natural-coloured ground. During the construction of this hand-knotted woollen rug, the shearing process is left out. This approach delivers an irregular surface which, together with a double-wash finishing process that opens the pile, gives Fleece a soft surface that recalls natural fleece. The difference between the colourways is the base tone: each ground references a typical sheep colour. Fleece is available in three colourways.

Field features a vibrant technical design. Hues, reminiscent of sheep markings, unite into an eye-catching linear gradient. The rug derives its pronounced vibrancy from a construction that unites seven coloured fine Bamboo Viscose yarns in two different heights and 18 blends. This composition ensures it also offers an exceptionally characterful pile, which has a dense body and a soft, sensuous top layer. Field comes in two colourways: ‘Day’ and ‘Night’.
