After a year and a half of renovation work, the Maison du Danemark on the Champs-Élysées opens Le Bicolore, it’s new contemporary art platform. The occasion is marked with an ambitious group exhibition showcasing textile art under the direction of Danish curator, Henriette Noermark.

In a Slow Manner, whose title is an ode to the 1941 essay by interior decorator Anni Albers ‘Handweaving Today’, awakens the senses through the discovery of pieces whose very essence stems from their texture and material.

The artists included in this showcase are; Margrethe Odgaard, Tove Storch, Justin Morin, Astrid Krogh, Ditte Hammerstrøm, Grethe Sørensen, Vibeke Rohland, Anne Fabricius Møller, Sofie Genz and Valérie Collart. With sculptures, wall tapestries and lighting creations; the artists occupy a vast field of generations, intentions, and iterations. The ten creatives launch Le Bicolore at the Maison du Danemark with sensuality, vibrancy, and tactile delight.

Facing Grethe Soerensen’s wall tapestry, Water Mirrors/Jels II, 2014, Kvadrat will show a selection of its textiles, including fabrics by the featured artist and Kvadrat collaborator, Margrethe Odgaard.

The exhibition has been created in partnership with Kvadrat, Galerie Maria Wettergren, Last Resort Gallery and Nils Stærk. Kvadrat has supported the exhibition with the Air 4 curtain textile by Erik Ole Jørgensen and the vibrant Vidar upholstery textile from the Kvadrat/Raf Simons collections. The prestigious Danish architecture agency COBE has redefined the space, while Urgent Agency has created a new visual identity.

As the world has become more digitalised, Le Bicolore will live on an online platform, developed by Maison du Danemark to experience the exhibition and view podcasts, online articles, digital talks, virtual tours and videos.
