Ionna Vautrin is a graduate from L'École de design Nantes Atlantique. Her forms are minimalist but endearing and often anthropomorphic: she describes them as ‘maternal’. Currently, she works with a number of leading design brands from her own studio in Paris. She also collaborates with other designers, such as Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, and develops her own projects.

Ionna Vautrin’s Zoo exploits the many nuances of Hallingdal 65 in a series of bright, colourful, oversized pillows that appeal to children and adults alike.
Including a toucan, a panda bear and a whale, each animal is around the same proportions as a small child (at around 1 m high), making them extra huggable for all ages, and encouraging younger generations to relate to them as a friend.
Ionna Vautrin’s illustrative visual style combines a highly simplified form, the animal’s character is defined principally through a series of different ‘hats’ which feature its face. Over time there is every potential for the zoo to grow and new species to be introduced, but in the meantime Ionna Vautrin’s three animals represent the elements: air, earth and water.
