Atelier Takagi | Basecamp

Born in Tokyo and raised in New England, Jonah Takagi graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002. He established the multi-disciplinary Atelier Takagi in Washington, DC as a creative outlet and workshop for producing objects that require closer examination, that inspire and inform and re-contextualise our surroundings.

Basecamp is inspired by vintage camping gear. A room within a room, it is designed to provide a moment of respite from the stress of the everyday.

Biography

Born in Tokyo and raised in New England, Jonah Takagi has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. For several years, he designed furniture in-between touring and recording with several indie rock bands. He then decided to establish the multidisciplinary design studio Atelier Takagi as a creative outlet and workshop for producing objects that require closer examination – objects that inspire, inform and re-contextualise our surroundings.
