At Danfoss’s offices by the harbour in Hamburg, the company’s own architects and HOLMRIS B8 have specified Soft Cells acoustic panels, Luminous Textile panels and Kvadrat Shade solutions. In addition, a variety of Kvadrat upholstery textiles are used throughout the interior.

The Soft Cells panels are utilised at workstations while the Kvadrat Shade solutions are mounted on inwards-facing windows. The Luminous Textile panels – which are upholstered with Nimbus and show Danfoss graphics as well as ambient colours – are at the entrance.

Several of the Kvadrat upholstery textiles are clustered in colours. Steelcut Trio 3Tonus 4 and Divina Melange 2 are used, in a variety of shades, in different office areas and the canteen. Elsewhere, Sunniva and Balder feature in the meeting centre, while Rime is employed in the reception and lounge.

From the onset, the interior suffered from poor acoustics due to its low ceilings. The Soft Cells panels play a key role in meeting this challenge. Meanwhile, the Luminous Textile panels and Kvadrat Shade also work to create an environment that facilitates concentration and focus.

The ability to support different ways of working and knowledge sharing is a cornerstone of the ‘activity-based’ design concept. For instance, ‘Free Seating’ is implemented at the offices: the agile interior, which features mostly ‘active’ walls and is acoustically optimised throughout, caters to 100 people yet only has 30 fixed workstations.

Anne-Mette Warberg, Senior Designer, HOLMRIS B8: “We specifically worked with Kvadrat textiles to clearly differentiate the traditional zone, with its fixed workstations in white, from the other dynamic and innovative zones. The different textile textures and their fine colours entice Danfoss employees to use the facilities, which offer new ways to work and collaborate.
