UNESCO meets Kvadrat

The sustainable upholstery textile Canvas and the Greenguard Gold certified curtain textile Casa has been selected for the interior of The Mount Fuji World Heritage Center, which amongst other facilities include a 4K auditorium, a restaurant and an event space. Canvas are applied to the auditorium seats and Casa is applied to a wall panel.

The building, with exterior walls of latticed wood, is based on an inverted image of Mount Fuji. Reflected in the large pool of water which lies in front of the site, it looks like the mountain. Inside Mount Fuji World Heritage Center a spiral curved slope leads gradually from the first floor up to the fifth. As visitors ascend the slope, they can view the exhibits and enjoy a virtual taste of the experience of climbing the mountain.

The Mount Fuji World Heritage Center is designed to provide future generations with a dedicated space to appreciate the mountain, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is situated in Yamanshi Prefecture in Japan.
