Raf Simons used textiles from the Kvadrat/Raf Simons collection for his Autumn/Winter 2015 catwalk show. Staged in a Paris warehouse, this celebrated ‘youth on a pedestal’. A stripped-down lighting rig was used to emphasise the simplicity of the collection, in which floor-length coats and gilets played a central role. These highlighted the suitability of the Kvadrat/Raf Simons textiles for use in fashion contexts.
Raf Simons is frequently inspired by the beauty and passion of youth, as well as by its sense of community. One highlight of the show evoked his experience of being ‘hazed’ at college, which prompted him to recreate the bold graffiti-scrawled white lab coats of his persecutors.
The Kvadrat/Raf Simons textiles chosen by the designer for the show combine different coloured yarns in innovative
colour blends, and have a highly textured, tactile quality. They included Masai, Sirocco and Noise.
