Q: How do you define Kvadrat as a workplace?
The first words that come to mind are: beautiful, collaborative and people oriented. At Kvadrat, we do business with and for people, we focus on the interaction with our colleagues, external designers and society in general. We make beautiful products that we are proud of and therefore, we are all proud of the company we work for.
Q: How and when did you start your career at Kvadrat?
I started working here five years ago, but it feels like a lifetime now. My background is in fashion and in the beginning, I was completely unaware of what was happening in the textile industry. But my love for beautiful, timeless, high-end design and quality products brought me to Kvadrat. In retrospect, the move from fashion to textiles seems obvious, so I could leave short term thinking behind. Through our products, for example, Hallingdal 65, which lasts for so long, I get to explore longevity in design, which I enjoy.
Q: What are you most proud of accomplishing in your role?
I am most proud of the teamwork we have put in to establish Kvadrat Febrik.
After Kvadrat acquired Febrik, we have worked hard to make the partnership successful and to give our clients a good experience of our knitted textiles. I am especially proud of the network that I have created in this process, both with colleagues and clients.
Q: What is your passion and how does it fit in your current role?
I love to connect with people. It took me a while to understand the full potential of that, but now I am at a point in my job where I connect with different people across segments, departments and borders, and together, we make beautiful projects. This not just benefits the company but also contributes to my own personal fulfilment, as I do something that I am passionate about, making it a win-win situation.
Q: Do you think of Kvadrat as an inclusive company?
I see a lot of positive change when it comes to representation and inclusivity. Kvadrat has deep roots in the Scandinavian design tradition, but through all our global offices, I see a lot of good developments and potential to grow in this area.
As we expand globally, it is becoming more important to be inclusive, and to understand different cultures and to be appreciative of differences. Although we have room to improve, I see this becoming more of a focus point and I am happy to see it on the agenda. I am curious to follow the journey but I am definitely looking forward to the future - I think it will be quite promising for Kvadrat.
