Our knitted textiles
Benefits of knitted textiles
Knitted textiles possess a distinctive and unconventional character, making our Kvadrat Febrik textiles stand out. With their intriguing design, versatility, durability and aesthetics, our selection of knitted textiles can transform any product or project into something truly unique.
Inherent stretch
Kvadrat Febrik knitted textiles, formed with interconnected loops, stretch in all directions and quickly regain their original shape upon release of pressure. The inherent stretch of knitted textiles allows for faster processing. As the knitted textile moulds and corrects during upholstery, production costs are minimised.
Unique texture
Due to the knitting technique, knitted upholstery textiles have a different texture compared to woven textiles. The arrangement of knitting loops creates a structure on the surface which is pleasant to touch and gives a rich appearance.
Comfortable 3D touch
The three-dimensional padding, stretch, and softness of the material featuring the knitted textiles contribute to creating a comfortable touch. This tactile quality, along with the connection of the front and back layers through loops and filling yarn, not only achieves a distinctive expression but also makes knitted textiles suitable for both hot and cold climates, offering a comfortable and voluminous appearance.
Acoustic value
Heavy, padded knitted textiles offer good sound absorption properties while flatter textiles are better when acoustic transparency is needed. Reflecting this, knitted textiles offer a compelling combination of aesthetic and acoustic performance for vertical applications.
Durable
Kvadrat Febrik's collection of knitted textiles excels in durability, making them well-suited for contract use. This is attributed to their production through a specialized spinning process, providing the robust functional benefits inherent in wool.
Sustainable
We are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our knitted textiles through responsible water usage and innovative processes, including the incorporation of rainwater in production. Additionally, our textiles are backed by various certifications such as EPDs, Greenguard Gold, HPD, and more.
Suunta
Suunta is a knitted upholstery that offers colourways and tactile textures inspired by the rows of blooms in Dutch flower fields. It is designed by Studio Truly Truly.
The ribbed construction of Suunta – Finnish for ‘direction’– unites single lines of wool and recycled polyester of different hues in a knitted jacquard stitch. This composition creates a lustrous rhythm of intricate chevrons across the surface of the textile.
Arda
Arda is a knitted upholstery textile which recreates complex natural forms, structures, surfaces, and colours found deep in the wild. It is part of a design project entitled Design by Nature led by Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren from the Swedish design studio Front.
Mizmaze
Mizmaze is a knitted upholstery textile with a characterful graphic expression, which is designed by Sylvain Willenz. It is the product of a manufacturing process, which significantly reduces the use of water. By substituting the conventional washing with a soaking-only process, the water usage is reduced by 80-95%.
