Our commitment to transparency

Every year, 92 million tons of textile waste is produced globally. The vast majority of this waste either ends up being incinerated or landfilled. Yearly, in Denmark alone, according to a study, a single resident discards an average of 2.4 ± 0.9 kilograms of clothing and 1.1 ± 0.5 kilograms of household textiles every year, all bundled with regular household waste. Kvadrat Really represents a pioneer and visionary solution to this existential crisis.

In 2022, we successfully processed over 300 tons of textile waste, upcycling our customers´ discarded textiles into functional, versatile, and aesthetic tabletops. Astonishingly, just 1 square meter of Kvadrat Really material breathes new life into more than 14.3 kilograms of textile waste from both pre-and post-consumer sources.

Kvadrat Really’s commitment to transparency led us to strictly adhere to the RCS Recycled Standards, placing traceability of our supply chain at the forefront. As a consequence, we aim to work with documented suppliers and ensure the traceability of end-of-life textiles.

Moreover, our first Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) assessment certifies Kvadrat Really's tangible contribution to reducing our environmental impact. Kvadrat Really Tabletops™ save a remarkable 30% in CO2-eq emissions compared to a conventional MDF tabletop. They are classified as low-emission materials, aligning seamlessly with current building standards. Our Life cycle assessment (LCA) on Kvadrat Really Tabletops™ highlighted that our products' impact per m2 accounts for 13,3 kgCO2. Additionally, our Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification further solidifies our commitment, to contributing to more sustainable public and private office spaces.

EPDs are a critical component of our sustainability mission. They offer transparent, objective, comparable, and third-party verified data about the environmental performance of our products and services. EPDs are key to driving more sustainable design in alignment with EU Green Claims Directive and enabling us to provide our clients with comprehensive information regarding the environmental impact of our products, throughout their lifecycle. Furthermore, EPDs are valuable in supporting green building rating systems such as LEED, WELL, and BREEAM.

We employ EPDs to cast a spotlight on our products' environmental impact throughout their lifecycle. This third-party verification process transforms complex life cycle assessment results into standardized, easily comparable information. We believe that transparency is a key driver for encouraging sustainable decision-making and broader industry collaboration towards a lower collective environmental footprint. With Kvadrat Really, we are dedicated to empowering our customers with the insights they need to make informed, environmentally conscious choices.
