Gonçalo Campos | Meeting a Lot, Meeting a Little

Meeting a Lot, Meeting a Little represents the encounters, which might take place at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, but could also refer to any international design event. Taking the mix of casual and chance meetings, and planned and scheduled discussions, Campos has created an umbrella-like structure that would facilitate these conversations, for an industry that prides itself as being fuelled by creativity.

Using Divina, Campos has built a portable and collapsible roof to offer protection and a cosy space under which to have these encounters. “Divina is the perfect material for this project,” he explains. “Its warmth and smoothness of touch, as well as its vibrant colour, combine to produce an impressive sensorial delight. Divina creates the perfect atmosphere, demanding the attention of those on the outside, as well as providing comfort and isolation to those on the inside.

Portuguese-born Gonçalo Campos prides himself in finding surprising solutions, through the combination of materials and production methods. Graduating in product design in 2008, Campos joined Fabrica, Benetton’s communications research centre, in the design studio, working with brands such as SecondoMe, Seletti and Zanotta.

Known for a signature mix of humour and pragmatism, he has collaborated with several international brands. Since 2010, he has been exploring the potential of new products, and their strategic use with Munna, WEWOOD, Piodão Group, Mantecas, and Vista Alegre, designing furniture, accessories, and lighting, and consulting on different projects.
