Location
The Leadenhall Building in the City of London has a distinctive tapering shape, angled at 10 degrees. Built to the British Land’s Sustainability Brief for Developments, it incorporates some of the most advanced construction techniques and components available.
The glass envelope of the building, combined with the client’s desire for glazed interior partitions and a technical stone floor, provided the architects with a significant acoustic challenge. Introducing an overhead acoustic panelling system was the only way to resolve this.
Solution
Large single Soft Cells Broadline panels by Kvadrat Acoustics create an acoustic, aesthetically striking and comfortable environment. They enable the architects to introduce continuous LED lighting modules in a very tight configuration, as well as ‘services channels’. These channels facilitate the positioning of all surface mounted items, such a sprinklers.
Furthermore, Kvadrat Acoustics’ push latch system makes easy access to the ceiling voids possible – a crucial benefit, as access hatches were not permitted in the surrounding MF construction ceilings.
