Kvadrat proudly supported the reinterpretation of Fritz Glarner’s “Rockefeller Dining Room” (1963/64) at Museum Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich.

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the museum realised a very special project bringing Fritz Glarner’s iconic “Rockefeller Dining Room” (1963/64), closer to its original purpose. The renowned designer Alfredo Häberli, born in Argentina in 1964 and now living in Zurich, was invited to conceive a new interior design, which would make it possible to experience Glarner’s specific work in the context of a dining room once again.

Instead of incorporating the Rockefellers’ furniture elements, Häberli’s contemporary design has been tailored to suit the current museum situation and the historical spatial setting. The results comprise a dining table, chairs, a specially made carpet, curtains and a new lighting system in subtle shades of grey. The textile features of the Dining Room help to improve the room’s acoustics and have been made in collaboration with Kvadrat.
