Our sustainability strategy

At Kvadrat Shade, we are committed to driving the change towards circular building design. We are constantly striving to improve our products and make them more sustainable.

We believe in being transparent about our efforts to create a more sustainable future. Our impact reports and third-party verifications show how our solutions can improve the sustainability within your project. They show how you can improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and meet green building standards such as BREEAM and LEED. In addition, our blinds improve the quality of your space, enhance well-being, and offer great creative flexibility.

Enhancing building performance

At Kvadrat Shade, we specialise in advanced roller blind solutions designed for optimal solar control. Our mission is to improve building performance and sustainability through innovative internal solar shading technologies.

Consider the impact of energy management on your projects. The primary energy consumers in buildings - heating, cooling, and lighting - are heavily influenced by the conditions around windows. Our roller blinds are designed to meet these challenges. By reflecting up to 74% of solar energy before it enters the building, our solutions effectively reduce heat gain and lower cooling requirements. This approach improves energy efficiency and contributes to more sustainable building operations.

During colder months, our blinds provide essential insulation by minimising heat transfer through windows. This insulation helps to keep heat in the building while keeping the cold out, optimising heating efficiency.

Calculate your carbon-neutral break-even point

We offer a tool that provides immediate insight into the potential energy savings for your projects, helping you with design and planning. In addition, our commitment to transparency is reflected in our Environmental Product Declarations and Health Product Declarations, which detail the environmental and health impacts of our products.

With Kvadrat Shade, you can integrate cutting-edge solar control solutions that align with your architectural and engineering goals, promoting both energy efficiency and sustainable design.

Kvadrat Shade is powered by the sun

With the installation of more than 2,000 solar panels on the roofs in Eibergen, Kvadrat Shade has taken a step towards making our production site in Eibergen more sustainable. The solar panels are capable of generating 800,000 kWh per year.

To further improve the indoor climate of our production facility, we have also replaced and insulated 9,000 m2 of roof. This upgrade has led to a significant reduction in our annual energy consumption.

Kvadrat Shade is proud to have further reduced its carbon footprint and to be an even more sustainable company.

We are delighted to say that Kvadrat Shade is now powered by the sun!

Apo and Clearview achieve Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze status

We are delighted to announce that our metallised roller blind fabrics, Apo and Clearview, have been awarded Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze status. This prestigious certification underscores Kvadrat Shade's commitment to innovation and sustainability, and solidifies Apo and Clearview as key solutions for projects seeking credits under leading green building frameworks such as LEED®, BREEAM and DGNB.

What is Cradle to Cradle certification?
The Cradle to Cradle Certified® standard is globally recognised for its focus on circularity, safety and environmental responsibility. It evaluates products based on five critical areas: material health, material reuse, renewable energy, water stewardship and social fairness. By achieving this certification, Apo and Clearview meet stringent environmental and health criteria, making them essential components of sustainable building practices.

Reuse of packaging at Kvadrat Shade

At Kvadrat Shade, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact through thoughtful practices. One of our key initiatives is our packaging take-back system, designed with our customers in mind. Through this system, we collect and reuse valuable materials, such as inner and outer tubes and wooden crates, during routine deliveries.

By reusing these materials, we aim to minimise the need for new packaging and help reduce waste production. This initiative not only supports a more sustainable approach but also reduces the recycling burden for our clients, making it easier for everyone to contribute to a circular economy.
